This course provides theoretical and clinical knowledge in podiatric surgery at an advanced level.

Topics include biostatistics, research methodology, practical aspects of elective foot surgery and/or management of the high risk foot, and patient-oriented research, including ethics and communication of research, resulting in a dissertation.

Graduates are eligible for registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia as a podiatric surgeon.

Course outline

The course consists of 17 units to a total value of 144 points:

(a) All Core units—138 points

Group A

Before being permitted to enrol in a practicum unit from Group B (Doctor of Clinical Podiatry core units), students must complete all units in Group A (Doctor of Clinical Podiatry core units).

Group B

Before being permitted to enrol in a research project unit from Group C, students must complete all units in Group A (Doctor of Clinical Podiatry core units).

(b) one unit from the following list of Options—6 points

Admission requirements

Admission to the Doctor of Clinical Podiatry requires the following:

  • Unrestricted registration as a general podiatrist

  • Minimum GPA of 5.0 based on the last two years of full time study in the BPodM or DPM (or equivalents)

  • Minimum of 12-months clinical experience as a general podiatrist 

  • Letter of support from a registered podiatric surgeon

English Language Competence
